You live in a sea of energy. How you manage your energy will determine how you navigate this ocean. It takes a tremendous amount of energy to stay present in the world. Most of our energy we distribute through the seven body chakras, with only a small percentage connecting us to the upper chakras. A larger portion of energy will be distribute to the 6th and the 7th chakras, which are the Third Eye and the Crown chakras, for people that are more mentally oriented. For those who are more emotionally oriented, more energy is focused at the 4th chakra or the heart center. Some are balanced and strong in both of those areas. Most of the time we are unconscious of how we use our energy, but we can focus it consciously by using intent.
Intent is the basis of creation. Every choice you make involves some degree of intent. The more focus you bring to bear on your intent, the greater the chance that it will manifest into reality. It makes no difference whether your intent is based upon correct perception or misperception; upon love or lack of love. You create your reality by how you focus intention.
Intention is a two-edged sword. Misuse of the power of intention due to misperceptions that we hold, is the cause for all suffering in the world. Proper use of intention strengthens and unifies everything. David Hawkins said in a talk that I attended recently in Sedona Arizona, that “It is easy to reach enlightenment. All you have to do is to be kind to everything always, without exception.” This is correct perception and the proper use of intention.
When we think of someone or choose to talk to him or her, we use intention to connect to their energy. Our intention separates their waveform out from everyone else’s. If we have an emotional attachment to them, our energy will merge with theirs and we begin releasing emotional patterns from their energy body for them. If they emotionally connect to us, then they do the same thing for us. This mechanism is so ingrained in how we relate to each other, that it is impossible to prevent.
There are two states of relating to others that will not result in you releasing for them. The first is complete neutrality towards the other person, as you might have towards a stranger. This is neutrality of the mind. The second is unconditional love towards the other. This is neutrality of the heart. Love is not an emotion; it is a state of being. All other emotional forms of relating to others are distortions of love.
Your connection to the other person and the length of time you continue to stay attached to their energy will depend upon the intensity of emotional attachment. The more significant the event or the person is to you, the stronger and longer-lasting your attachment will be. “Special” relationships are notorious for creating strong and enduring bonds. Although some may see these bonds as positive connections, the fact remains that they result in an energy exchange and cause you to process emotional patterns for them. This would still be a beneficial service if it resulted in a net decrease in emotional blockage, but the recipient will just put the patterns back into place a short time later as long as they have major blockages in place.
The Buddhists practice non-attachment, because they recognize that attachments are products of the ego or “false self”. Sai Baba states that, “Love can only emerge when there is total detachment” (Goldthwait). In the meantime, it is still possible to disconnect from the release of another by using intent to detach your energy from theirs. A simple technique to accomplish this is to set your intention to disconnect from anyone you are releasing for and count backwards from ten to zero. The counting will occupy your mind, so that it will not interfere. It doesn’t matter if you know who it is or not. It is important to discipline your thoughts, however, because you will re-attach if you begin thinking of them again. As you practice non-attachment, it will become less necessary to use this technique.
Managing your energy is all about non-attachment. Every person, place or object that you attach to can become a drain on your energy. Your choices direct your intention. Choose love; for only there will you experience your true essence.
