Most of us relate the things that happen to us in the course of our lives as having a direct cause which produces an associated effect. These in turn produce other causes and then other effects in a long progression of causality. We may believe in randomness, but only in relationship to the causative side of the equation. A random accident or a chance meeting give the impression of chance and probability. Our lives appear to be a sequential progression of events, which lead us to where we are today. The families we were born into, the people we meet, the circumstances of our lives all seem to have occurred by chance, but then become the causative agents in our development. I am who I am, because of the totality of the factors that have influenced me in my lifetime.
This concept of causality only explains the extrinsic outward expression of existence; the manifestation of effect. The hidden, or intrinsic side of the equation remains unclear and is subject to interpretation. How do things really work? Where did I come from? Why am I who I am today? Where am I going? These are the questions that we attempt to answer. These are the questions that motivate us to search for answers and reach for explanations. The intrinsic processes that answer these questions are much different than we realize. They originate in the fabric of your soul.
We have received explanations in the form of religious doctrine and imaginative conjecture, but nothing has explained the mystery of life. We are told that, “only God knows” and that we need to behave ourselves and have faith and all will eventually become clear. The answer, however, is clear. Everything is God manifest! You are God, I am God, every part of existence is God. God is the intrinsic and the extrinsic; the total package. To our logical minds, this answer to everything actually answers nothing. We may or may not accept that basic tenant, but what can we do with it to enhance our lives and how will this information benefit our further development?
All of creation is like a huge hologram, encompassing the entire Universe. All is complete from beginning to end. Every part reflects the whole. We experience it within the constraints of time, observing it unfolding as we progress minute to minute and hour by hour. Within eternity, however, there is no progression. There just is!
You could liken it to a ride in a train. As the train moves along the tracks, you look out of the window and observe the landscape unfolding before your eyes. The landscape is already there. The world, the planets, the Universe and everything in it is there. It is not being created as you progressively view it. Because you are viewing it for the first time, it is being created within your mind. Your experience of an unfolding Universe within time makes it appear as though you are in the process of creating your future through the decisions you make, where in fact, the future already exists and the decisions have already been made.
I realize that this view negates the concept of “free will”, but aren’t all the choices you decide to make in life already pre-determined based upon the “web of beliefs” you have integrated into your life? As actions follow thoughts, aren’t all of your thoughts a product of your belief system? Your choices are based upon all the intrinsic and extrinsic factors reflected into your life at any moment in time. There is no separation in the Universe. Molecules blend with molecules, wavelengths with wavelengths forming one inseparable whole. What we consider “free will” is a product of the Ego.
The ego believes that it is God and can determine your future through the decisions it makes. Through its perception of being separate, the ego concludes that it is the arbitrator of your life and the part of you that directs your future. Fortunately, it is mistaken! Your life already has direction and the success of your soul’s evolution is already guaranteed. The unfolding of that evolution through time, however, is something that we all need to traverse.
Experience is what life is about. You, as a part of God, have chosen to experience the unfolding of the intrinsic into the manifestation of the extrinsic Universe. Enjoy the ride!
